Custom orders are an important part of what sets Cactus Glassworks apart.

Life as a musician left me with a profound appreciation for the concept of “audience participation.” Over the years of exploring different musical traditions, I noticed that in traditions where the audience was involved, people seemed to derive more joy from the experience. When experimenting with incorporating audience participation into my own musical practice, I found it to be a very real way that I could improve the experience of being a part of, not just witnessing, an art form. I’ve kept this insight with me over time, and I’ve found that offering people ways to be more involved in things is consistently a worthwhile effort.

I think of custom orders like a form of audience participation, and I encourage you to consider participating! If you like a design but want it in a different color, or you want a teeny-tiny or a huge version, or if you’ve got some wild idea for a mash-up of two existing designs, then reach out! There are no bad ideas and no stupid questions; I will gladly entertain any concept or idea no matter how unformed. We will have a conversation about what is reasonably possible, and we’ll go through the process of what is essentially an artist collaboration. There’s no charge to reach out and have the conversation—depending on the nature of the project I may ask for a deposit, and pricing will be based on the time and materials needed to produce our project together. For things like color swaps in existing designs there is no extra charge, only the usual price of the item.
